Leigh Hicks, MSW, LCSWA, PhD
Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate & Teen Program Coordinator
Dr. Leigh Hicks is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) providing clinical social work therapy to Adolescents (13-17), and Adults. She is an independent contractor not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of client care, however she practices under the supervision of her approved LCSW supervisor. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. Dr. Leigh contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Dr. Leigh is our Teen Program Manager. She develops, leads and manages our Teen Group program. Dr. Leigh also provided individual therapy when working with teens and their families. She serves clients from 8 through adulthood and has a special interest in young adults. Dr. Leigh works to empower clients, build insight, and provide practical tools for clients to use as they develop into young adulthood. Dr. Hicks experience is rich in community roots as she provides wrap around services as the Director and Founder of Footsteps 2 Success, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization that works to empower and support girls in development of a positive self image, behavior and development.
Dr. Leigh has over 16 years of extensive experience in working with victims of crimes and Human Trafficking as former Deputy Sheriff from Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Social Worker & Mental Health Liaison. In these roles, Dr. Hicks became interested in the clinical treatment of survivors and received her MSW at the University of South Carolina. She then went to complete her PhD in Human Services. Currently, she maintains her private practice with McCloud Acosta Clinical Services and is part of the Faculty at Walden University teaching MSW core classes and clinically focused classes.
Dr. Hick's niche and client focus is on victims of sexual exploitation including victims of Human Trafficking and sexual abuse. She uses individual, family, and group therapy modalities during treatment. Her approach is direct and solution focused. Dr. Leigh incorporates DBT, CBT, Systems Theory, and Family Systems Theory into her practice. She is experienced treating depression, anxiety, families, victims of crimes, human sex trafficking, abuse, vulnerable adults, and treating self-esteem, and bullying issues. Her practice is evidenced based and trauma focused. She enjoys working with middle school and high school teens to assist them in overcoming the challenges of their victimization and works to engage non-offending parents and caretakers.
Dr. Leigh currently accepts self pay and accepts Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Medcost, and MHN. She provides therapy online and in person.
