Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate & Teen Program Coordinator
Dr. Leigh Hicks is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) providing clinical social work therapy to Children ages (8-12), Adolescents (13-17), and Adults. She is an independent contractor not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of client care, however she practices under the supervision of her approved LCSW supervisor. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. Dr. Leigh contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Dr. Leigh is our Teen Program Manager. She develops, leads and manages our Teen Group program. Dr. Leigh also provided individual therapy when working with teens and their families. She serves clients from 8 through adulthood and has a special interest in young adults. Dr. Leigh works to empower clients, build insight, and provide practical tools for clients to use as they develop into young adulthood.
Dr. Leigh is a former Deputy Sheriff from Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Social Worker, Mental Health Liaison, Contributing Faculty Member at Walden University, and Director and Founder of Footsteps 2 Success, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Her community and professional involvement include serving on the South Carolina Women and Girls Task Force Committee, active member of Trinity Baptist Church Grant Ministry, Girls Circle Facilitator and Mother and Daughters Facilitator, and is a certified SIHLE facilitator through the South Carolina HIV/AIDS Council.
Dr. Leigh received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Benedict College in 2001. She received her MSW from the University of South Carolina in 2003 and her Doctorate degree from Walden University in Human Services, specializing in Clinical Social Work in 2017. Dr. Leigh is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in criminal justice at Walden University. Leigh is certified by the Board of North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Associate. She has over 16 years over social work experience.
Dr. Leigh specializes in individual, family, and group therapy. She has worked with a variety of individuals with a mental illness. Her approach is direct and solution focused. Dr. Leigh has worked with all ages and incorporates DBT, CBT, Systems Theory, and Family Systems Theory into her practice. She is knowledgeable in mental illness, human sex trafficking, abuse, vulnerable adults, self-esteem, and bullying.
Dr. Leigh currently accepts self pay and accepts Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Medcost, MHN, and UHC. Currently she is using a teletherapy platform to ensure safety for her clients from COVID until she can return to in person therapy in the office setting.
