Cynthia Kandaya, MSW, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Cynthia Kandaya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who provides 

comprehensive services to children (7-12), adolescents, adults, families, and groups. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of client care, however she practices under the supervision of her approved LCSW supervisor. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. Cynthia contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.

 

Cynthia received her Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from New Jersey City University, New Jersey and earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from University of Southern California specializing in Clinical Social Work. She has over 25 years of social work experience working across a variety of settings. Cynthia has worked in structured outpatient programs, crisis intervention, large non-profits, government agencies and private practice. She has a broad range of clinical experience working with children, teens, adults, families and groups during her professional career some of which are: Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorders, Trauma and Abuse, Domestic Violence, Self-image and Self-Esteem Issues, Anger and Stress Management, Grief and loss, ADHD, Discipline Challenges, Family and Relationship Issues, Maternal Health Counseling, Infectious Disease Counseling and Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. 

 

Cynthia is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate with strong relationship building abilities and a passion for helping others achieve their goals. Cynthia believes in enhancing the client’s strengths, resources and overall wellness. Cynthia’s approach to treatment is client focused which emphasizes self-determination, relationship building and mutual development of therapeutic goals.

 

Cynthia utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma - Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, Traditional Talk Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness. She also includes other interventions based on client’s needs. Cynthia utilizes an integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health treatment and particularly the impact of loss and trauma and interventions that support trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health.


Cynthia accepts Aetna, BCBS, CHBA, Bright Health, UHC, Self-Pay and Out of Network Benefits.

​Her office hours are Thursday and Friday by appointment only. She can see patients in person or using teletherapy.
