Markia Hearst, MSW, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Markia Hearst is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who works with children beginning at age 10, adolescents, and adults. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of her client's care. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. She contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Markia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from South Carolina State University. She then earned a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of South Carolina where she focused on practice with individuals, families, and groups.
Markia specializes in treating PTSD in children and teens, sexual abuse, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, and has a heart for serving urban communities. She is LGBTQ+ affirmative and honors the uniqueness of every client. She provides individual, family, and group therapy, and uses TF-CBT, CBT, mindfulness, DBT, wellness, and holistic approaches. Markia is facilitating DBT Groups and is part of MACS DBT Team.
Her previous experience includes working in the nonprofit sector with children and families impacted by child sexual abuse and domestic violence. Markia believes in the power of human connection and values each client’s life experience. Her approach is gentle and honest. Her role as a therapist is to aid in the restorative process by providing a safe, peaceful space for healing.
Markia accepts Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Medcost, MHN, UHC, Out of Network and Self Pay.
Currently she is using a teletherapy platform to ensure safety for her clients from COVID until she can return to in person therapy in the office setting.
