Jennifer Macchia is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and a Nationally Certified Counselor who works with both Children ages 3 to 12 and Adolescents as well as Adults. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspect of her client's care. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. She contracts with MACS, PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.
Jennifer earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Play Therapy from UNC Charlotte. Jennifer has experience with Children using Child Parent Relationship Training, and a Grounded Kid Yoga Teacher. She works with children who have behavioral issues, ADHD, anxiety, depression, loss, children of alcoholics, trauma and adjustment. She has also earned her certificate in Level II EMDR by EMDRIA.
Jennifer is the Play Therapy Program Director providing development of groups, services and marketing for our play therapy program.
Jennifer also specializes in working with Adults with issues including grief and loss, anxiety, relationship issues, self improvement, depression, self harming such as cutting, anger, trauma, ADHD and the treatment of Substance Abuse. She is a DBT informed therapist, uses a Cognitive Behavioral approach and EMDR.
Jennifer approaches clinical practice from an integrative model. She believes that people are multilayered, complex, and multifacited- and so are their life problems. The integrated model allows the best treatment approach in order to achieve the clients treatment goals. Jennifer strives to guide clients to a new understanding into their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships.
Jennifer currently accepts Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, CBHA, Medicaid, Medcost, Magellen, NC Health Choice, UHC, Self Pay and Out of Network Benefits.
Her office hours Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
