Elizabeth Kerr, MA, LCMHC

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor

Elizabeth Kerr is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who works primarily with adolescents and adults. She is an Independent Contractor, not an employee, thus she is individually responsible for all aspects of her client's care. She is independently insured and manages her own practice. She contracts with MACS PLLC for marketing, billing, and office space.  

 

Elizabeth earned her Bachelors degree in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then earned a Master's degree in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte. 

 

Elizabeth specializes in treating PTSD, domestic violence, self-harm, suicidality, and working with clients who identify as LGBTQIA+. Every client is different, so she tailors her approach to clients’ specific needs personal goals. The primary orientations that she uses are person-centered, DBT, narrative therapy, and existential therapy. She works primarily from a whole-person model, looking for the most complete picture of the many diverse components that make us up as human beings. 

Elizabeth has experience working with individuals, families, adolescents, children, and in a crisis response setting. She truly believes in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and works hard to build her clients' trust. She believes that going to therapy is one part of a greater process that helps clients return to a place of stability where they can flourish. Additionally, Elizabeth has a background in the study of religion and philosophy.

Elizabeth believes that even the hardest and darkest times in our lives can provide profound transformations. Her role is to validate the difficulties of the present and meet clients where they are to provide a safe space for clients’ past, present, and future.

 

Elizabeth accepts: Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Magellan, Medcost, Tricare, UHC as well as Self Pay and Out of Network 

 

Her office hours are by appointment only Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
