Ms. Bilmanis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing mental health and substance abuse services to children (age 5-12), adolescents and adults. Ms. Bilmanis sees clients individually or as a couple/family when clinically appropriate. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Virginia in 2009 and then obtained a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 2011. While completing her education, Ms. Bilmanis assisted with the research and treatment of children with ADHD, Autism and other significant mental health disorders in children. She obtained her LCSW in 2013.
Ms. Bilmanis has practiced in a variety of settings including an outpatient clinic, inpatient dual-diagnosis unit and emergency department. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy and a goal-directed approach to assist her clients with making positive changes in their lives. Ms. Bilmanis completed a practicum in Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City this past year. She has additional training in PTSD and Traumatic Grief, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Neurobiology of Addiction, Medical and Psychosocial Aspects of Alcohol and Drug Use and the Addiction Severity Index.
With a goal-directed approach, Ms. Bilmanis aims to meet the client where he or she is while keeping a view of where the client would like to be in the future. By developing therapeutic rapport and trust, Ms. Bilmanis will assist a client with addressing problematic thoughts or behaviors in order to make lasting changes toward desired goals. Ms. Bilmanis’ diverse professional experiences benefit her in working with a wide array of clientele. Her playful, nurturing attributes are great when working with children while her mature and direct style allows her to work well with adolescents and adults.
Originally from Maryland, Ms. Bilmanis settled in North Carolina after completing education to be near her family, as this is an important value to her. She enjoys trying new restaurants in and around Charlotte. During the warmer months, Ms. Bilmanis can almost always be found on Lake Norman enjoying the water and sun.
