Trauma Therapy & PTSD Therapy

You or your family member have had a traumatic event. It could have been recent or years in the past. It could have been a single event or multiple events spanning years.  You have tried many things to move past it, but it hasn't worked. Memories, negative thoughts and beliefs still remain. You are stuck. Your relationships, work performance, family and friendship are suffering. Sleep is difficult if it comes at all; you are startled by noises or reminders; you feel reactive and uneasy most all the time. Sometimes it feels like depression, other times anxiety or panic.  You have tried counseling, talking to your religious leader, friends, Doctors, drugs and/or alcohol, prescriptions, relationships, distractions- now you don't know what else to do.  Is it PTSD, Acute Anxiety, a Panic Disorder or something else?

You have come to the right place.  We can help you- its our speciality.  By using EMDR, TFCBT or traditional Psychotherapy, we can help you address your needs. Our mission is to provide our clients comprehensive, effective, evidenced based and holistic Mental Health Therapy for transformative healing from the effects of Trauma while promoting the health of the client without regard to race, religion, disability, national origin, sexual identity or gender.

We also offer Holistic Treatment options through referral to Balance Holistic Healing Arts to provide Reiki Energy Healing, Thai Yoga, Essential Herbs & Oils.  If traditional medicine is your preference, we also refer to a number of prescribing NP's and Psychiatrists in the Charlotte Area.

We Are using Telehealth to Continue Therapy during the COVID-19 Crisis!

MACS has instituted our Pandemic safety protocol and moved from "In the Office Therapy" to "Teletherapy Only" as of March 16, 2020. With over 500 people coming through our doors each week for our 12 therapists, it is not possible to disinfect and protect clients against possible exposure of COVID-19 during this Pandemic. Our intake line continues to be staffed as our business office begins working from home.

We are committed to still be available and present for your therapy by using our HIPAA compliant Teletherapy Platform. You will need access to a camera enabled internet device. A link will be sent the morning of your appointment. Click the link, enable your camera and microphone, choose a private place and click to join. We will connect to you during our time and we will interact as we normally do.

When will we open up to face to face services again?  Once we can be certain we can protect each client and therapist!  Although restrictions are lifting, it is still extremely hard to get sanitizing supplies necessary. Additionally, figuring out how to hold sessions with social distancing and conducting therapy in masks is not ideal.  We continue to provide services via telehealth until the time comes we can safety enter a small space, face to face, without masks in a closed off room.

Virtual EMDR- What is it and How can it Help?

Virtual EMDR is a platform that our therapists are using in coordination with our HIPAA compliant telehealth provider to provide EMDR in home over the computer.  It incorporates Eye Movements along bilateral sounds in the comfort of your own home.  The therapist can monitor you and provide feedback and guidance just like in the office.  Its amazing!
